Solar Heat

Solar pool heaters is one of the most popular uses for solar water heating today.

The initial cost of installing a solar pool water heating system are competitive with traditional electric or gas pool water heaters, and in many instances the actual infrastructure cost is lower.

A typical solar pool water heating system requires little or no maintenance and typically utilizes your current pool system (pump) to move the water through the heat collection panel.

Solar collectors are usually flat panels mounted on a roof or rack system through which your pool water is moved with your pump. As the water moves through the collector heat is transferred from the panel to the water, which is then returned to your pool.

In addition, if you live in a very warm climate you may be able to run your solar panel system during the night hours and cool your water.

Your solar collector is usually installed on a non-shaded portion of your home's roof, but when that is not practical the collectors can be easily mounted on a ground-based rack system.

How much collector you need depends upon the size of your pool (both surface area and water volume). Your solar collector manufacturer is best suited to advise you on your exact needs.

The largest benefit comes in the form of free heat for your pool water utilizing an existing pump system. No additional energy is required to move your pool water through the solar collector.
