Pool Type

One of the largest decisions to make that will impact the "green" factor of your inground swimming pool is the type of pool you choose to have installed.

Traditional Gunite

A traditional gunite pool typically requires more chemicals be added to the water to maintain water quality.  The crooks and crevices of your pool wall will harbor and encourage algae growth.  This equates to more maintenance and more chemicals.

Vinyl Liner

A vinyl liner pool while providing a smoother surface than a traditional gunite pool still provides seams that encourage algae growth requires increased maintenance time and chemical cost.

Fiberglass

A fiberglass shell inground pool offers the smoothest surface of any inground pool type available in the market today.  This smooth surface prevents the growth of algae reducing chemical cost and maintenance time.  Fiberglass pool owners report spending as little as 15 minutes per week for total pool maintenance.  No need to brush the pool on a regular basis and there is no requirement to apply any weekly shock chemicals.

The hands down, winning choice for the environmentally conscience and prudent pool owner is fiberglass.
